Farm Profile: Gallrein Farms

August 19, 2014

Maybe you are in the know, maybe you’re not. But the people that know about Gallrein Farms in Shelbyville, KY love bringing their friends and family to the farm. The farm operates from early Spring until late Fall. While the abundance of flowers and produce steal the spotlight in the warmer months, we are partial to visiting during the best time of year: Fall. Here are some of the highlights you won’t want to miss:

Wagon ride: A lot of farms have wagon rides. A lot of farms have pumpkins. However, it is harder and harder to find farms that offer pumpkin rides to the pumpkin patch where, yes, you get to pick your own pumpkin. This is fun for the family and is a great way for friends to enjoy a Fall day!

Food: If you read this blog somewhat regularly, you have probably noticed that I love food. Well, Gallrein Farms happens to have an excellent selection of food, so I am once again writing about it! From homemade fudge and donuts to grilled offerings, you shouldn’t leave hungry. Plus, there is apple cider to wash it down with!

Market: Adjacent to the aforementioned bakery is their gigantic greenhouse and market. Under these roofs you will find everything under the sun to make your house scream “I love Fall!” Gourds, cornstalks, and rustic decor are all available for purchase. Check it out next time you stop by.

Whether you are coming for The Great Pumpkin Run or just paying a visit, one thing is for sure: you wont regret visiting the best farm in the Louisville area!
