Farm Profile: Rural Hill

June 02, 2015

This post is part of a series where we highlight why we love the farms and orchards that host The Great Pumpkin Run. Read on to learn some cool features and facts!

Our first event this fall takes place at Rural Hill, which is situated about 25 miles northwest of Charlotte. The 265 acre farm is a registered historic site, nature preserve, and event site. The farm showcases fall perfectly with an amazing wood-line and lush green fields. Oh, and yes, there is a corn maze! Here are a few reasons why Rural Hill is an amazing place to visit:

-Close by. Rural Hill benefits from being close enough to Charlotte but still just far enough away to feel like you are escaping into the countryside. Plenty of parking means you will not have an issue once you arrive.

-History. The farm has been in the Davidson family for six generations. You can feel the history as you stroll the grounds, which include log cabins, barns, and other structures reminiscent of yesteryear.

-Woods. A large portion of the run dashes through the gorgeous woods at Rural Hill. This adds to the overall feel and excitement while also providing some shade!

-Corn maze. What’s a fall farm without a corn maze? Rural Hill has a beautifully manicured maze that provides a challenge to anyone who enters!
