3 Foolproof Ways to Stay Hydrated in the Heat
We hear it every day. It seems to be the answer to everything these days. Want to lose weight? Drink water. Want clearer skin? Drink water. Have a headache? Drink water. Need more energy? Drink water. The list goes on and on. However there are countless people out there, myself included, that just don’t drink enough water. I know I should, and I know the countless benefits of drinking water, but it’s still a daily struggle for me to drink it. Here are a few ways that I’ve gotten myself to stay hydrated in the summer heat:
TRY FRUIT-INFUSED WATER
One of my favorite parts about the office that we work in is that they always have fruit-infused water readily available. One of the reasons I struggle to drink water is simply the taste. I would prefer to drink something with flavor! Fruit-infused water is super easy to make, plus it tastes and looks better than normal water! My favorite fruit-infused water combination is strawberries with a little bit of basil or mint. Yum!
START CARRYING A WATER BOTTLE
This one’s a no-brainer. If you carry around a water bottle, it’s a constant reminder to drink more. I usually don’t go out of my way to drink water, so if I have a water bottle in front of me I’m much more likely to drink it. This can also be a cost-effective and environmentally-friendly strategy if you invest in a good water bottle to carry around instead of continually buying plastic bottles.
EAT FOODS WITH HIGH WATER CONTENT
You can also stay hydrated by consuming foods that are water-dense. Bonus: the foods that have the highest water content are also super nutritious! Try adding more fruits and vegetables like watermelon, grapefruit, strawberries, cucumbers, celery, or broccoli into your diet and you’ll be helping your hydration levels without even realizing it!
